Our Story

CakkwSCWwAArczcTen years ago EastLake was birthed out of a church planting vision and is committed to planting churches!

In the fall of 2005 more than 60 people came together to make up the initial “core” of what would be our church. Through the generous support of our “mother church”, Parkway House of Prayer in Roanoke, we were born. When February 5, 2006 arrived that core group was joined by more than 100 others for the launch of EastLake Community Church.

In the Fall of 2010 we moved into our present location, a building that was formerly a grocery store and later a flea market. We gutted it completely and refitted it with a 300 seat sanctuary, offices, classrooms, nursery, kid’s worship center and kitchen.

Over the course of the first ten years God has blown our minds with all he has done. Genuine conversions, deepening relationships with God, true transformation of people’s lives for kingdom service and church planting have marked our early years.

But we truly believe the best is yet to come. God has given us a big vision and, just recently, has allowed us to purchase 162

beautiful acres less than a mile away that we believe will be used incredibly for the Kingdom, serving as the home of EastLake Community Church, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, and a state-of-the-art retreat center.

We believe that God is working in this world and doing great big things in His church. We are committed to being used by God to make a difference in the world.
