Our Story

How it all started...

EastLake Community Church was birthed out of a church planting vision and is committed to planting churches!

In the fall of 2005 more than 60 people came together to make up the initial “core” of what would be our church. Through the generous support of Parkway House of Prayer in Roanoke, we launched on February 5, 2006, as that core group was joined by more than 100 others.

Expanding the vision...

In the Fall of 2010 we moved into a building that was formerly a grocery store and later a flea market. We gutted it completely and refitted it with a 300 seat sanctuary, offices, classrooms, nursery, kid’s worship center, and kitchen.

Over the course of the first ten years God has blown our minds with all he has done. Lives genuinely transformed, deepening relationships with God, loving and serving our community, and planting other churches have marked our early years.

A Bold Step of Faith

In 2014, God gave us a big vision and allowed us to purchase 162 beautiful acres that became home to the EastLake Community Church building and Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy. This facility allows us to host events to serve and reach our community.

Expanding to Roanoke

In 2024, God led us to open a satellite campus in Roanoke for our church and school, allowing us to reach more people in the city. In line with our mission of being a sending church, a core team of 125 people from our church were sent out to serve and lead at EastLake Roanoke.

Where We’re Headed…

We believe that the best is still yet to come. God is working in this world and doing great big things in and through His church. We are committed to continuing to seek His will for our church and being used by Him to make a difference in the world.
